Filinvest launches innovation park in New Clark City
This forms a key aspect of the vision to transform New Clark City into a green, smart, and disaster-resilient urban hub.
Real estate developer Filinvest Land Inc. plans to harmoniously integrate the Filinvest Innovation Park with New Clark City's 9,450-hectare urban landscape.
“The government is looking to make New Clark City as the Philippines’ first green, smart, sustainable, and disaster-resilient city. The Innovation Park will seek to play its role in hosting locators that will engage in light manufacturing, logistics, technology, e-commerce, and similar enterprises,” said Francis Ceballos, Senior Vice President Business Unit Head, Industrial and Logistics at Filinvest Land Inc.
It is expected to bring a wave of businesses into the area, spurring job creation and economic activity in adjacent sectors like commercial, retail, and residential.
According to Ceballos, Filinvest will collaborate with local government units for the development of local employment pools, as well as skills development programs, vocational training, and educational opportunities. This approach aims to improve the standard of living and economic life of neighbouring municipalities, as well.
The park holds a potential role in dispersing industrialisation away from congested areas like Metro Manila. Its unique location and robust connectivity infrastructure, including direct access to Clark International Airport and the ports of Manila and Subic, position it to strengthen critical segments of various supply chains.
In terms of environmental sustainability, Ceballos also assured that the park complies with all government environmental mandates. “We are maximising our ability to utilise renewable energy sources, especially solar power,” he said.
The park’s design includes rainwater harvesting facilities in ready-built factories and initiatives for waste reduction and recycling.
Another key focus of the development is promoting a pedestrian-centric lifestyle. Ceballos mentioned, “We are implementing sustainable transport options and infrastructure that will minimise congestion and promote walking and cycling.” This initiative aligns with the broader vision of reducing dependence on cars and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
“The city-wide loop park went through a big section of the southern part of the park, and the Green Boulevard by BCDA is at the western boundary of our first phase.” This integration ensures the park is seamlessly connected with the surrounding community.
