Kuala Lumpur hotel market to add 2,641 new rooms in 2026
The upscale and luxury segments will dominate new supply.
A total of 2,641 new hotel rooms is expected to enter the Kuala Lumpur market in 2026, according to a JLL report. The expansion is focused on the upscale and luxury segments, ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026, with notable openings including the 279-key Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur, 259-key Regent Kuala Lumpur, and 488-key Conrad Kuala Lumpur.
JLL reports that market performance has steadily recovered since the pandemic. In 2025, the city’s luxury hotel RevPAR rose 1.1% year-on-year, representing a 22.7% increase compared with 2019. Investor appetite has also strengthened, supported by robust fundamentals and rising deal volumes, which had jumped 93% year-on-year by Q3 2024.
The Malaysian government’s investments in transportation infrastructure, including upgrades to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, along with the new open-door visa-free policy for key markets like Mainland China and India, are expected to support further growth in arrivals and hotel demand, JLL said.
