Kuala Lumpur to see seven new hotels for the remainder of 2025
Luxury hotel projects dominated the upcoming supply.
As of June 2025, JLL noted in a report that the only new hotel opening was the 320-key Moxy Kuala Lumpur Chinatown, which opened in May.
Additionally, the report said seven more new openings are anticipated for the year, mainly in the KLCC region. These include the Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur and Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur Midtown.
Here’s more from JLL:
Pavilion Real Estate Investment Trust (Pavilion REIT) acquired the Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur and Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur in May 2025, highlighting investor confidence in Malaysia’s growth momentum.
Regional tensions and economic uncertainties have dampened hotel demand in the first half of the year. Trading performance in Kuala Lumpur remained stable from last year, with both a stable occupancy and a stable ADR.
Outlook: Strategic investments in tourism to facilitate more visitation
There are upcoming plans for Kuala Lumpur International Airport to undergo several significant upgrades by 2026 that will help to accommodate the increasing passenger traffic, with passengers projected to reach 140 million per year by 2050.
The government launched the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM 2026), a major tourism campaign designed to elevate Malaysia’s status as a premier travel destination and aims to attract 35.6 million tourists.
