Desa ParkCity bags Masterplan Development of the Year - Malaysia at Real Estate Asia Awards

ParkCity Group transformed a quarry into Kuala Lumpur’s most liveable community today.

From what was deemed a challenging and scarred site, a remarkable transformation happened: Desa ParkCity (DPC) was developed and became one of the most liveable communities in the country.

Sprawling 473 acres, DPC was unveiled back in 2002. A barren, active quarry mine is now Kuala Lumpur’s first-ever new and popular urbanist master-planned township, having completed over 4,000 residential units.

One of the earliest New Urbanist master-planned communities in Malaysia, DPC was planned and developed with an emphasis on placemaking concepts to create a holistic and self-sustainable environment for people to thrive within.

With its original site being a quarry void of a viable ecosystem, DPC managed to turn around the project with innovations and successfully rehabilitated the land as challenging as it was.

ParkCity Group provides seamless opportunities to enjoy moments whilst inspiring togetherness and friendship in cultivating a lively neighborhood of Desa ParkCity, complemented by world-class facilities and amenities such as parks, nearby dining and retail outlets at The Waterfront neighbourhood mall and Plaza Arkadia a commercial and social plaza, exclusive resident’s clubhouse at The ParkCity Club, ParkCity Medical Centre managed by Ramsay Sime Darby Hospital as well as The International School @ ParkCity, making it an ideal address and community for families and individuals alike.

Desa ParkCity

Designed to be a liveable city which is safe, walkable and sociable, DPC has an integrated network of roads with access to various amenities as well as sidewalks that support crime prevention environmental design so as to make it a safe place for its residents.

One of the most defining DPC features is the lively and pet-friendly Central Park. Envisioned to be an escape from city bustle, this is where families and friends bond over picnics, peaceful walks, children's playtime or even workouts.

The transformation that the masterplan development underwent has allowed it to become Kuala Lumpur’s most liveable community today. Staying true to its identity of “a lifetime community,” DPC embodies a community where people of all ages and abilities interact and thrive together; it has all the ingredients for liveability, sustainability, health, and safety.

At the same time, DPC’s placemaking concept has won many recognitions for its physical appeal and conducive communal functions, which have become a benchmark for the Malaysian property market. Its homes are designed with strong individual themes and ample communal green spaces, forming viable neighbourhoods with a strong sense of identity.

The masterplan development also features various sustainable innovations such as automated waste collection system, man-made lake design with biofiltration system to create an ecosystem for the water to function like in a natural lake, amongst others. These keep the community self-sufficient without incurring unwanted environmental impact.

Furthermore, the developer added value to the township by providing the exclusive ‘The ParkCity Club’ with wholesome facilities for relationship-building sports and relaxation activities to serve the community.

Through these outstanding qualities and innovations, DPC clinched the Masterplan Development of the Year - Malaysia in the Development Awards category of the recently concluded Real Estate Asia (REA) Awards 2021. The prestigious event recognises the most innovative real estate developments in Asia Pacific that stand out in the market regardless of a challenging environment.

DPC’s reputation and past performance in delivering promises on time and with exceptional quality give the development strong credence amongst homebuyers. Its consistent standards have also resulted in a high rate of repeated buying of its projects. Its market positioning today, being one of the top-selling communities, had a material influence on potential homebuyers as well.

Moreover, with the site being a former quarry, DPC successfully confronted environmental challenges present through research and site investigation and shaped the site as a role model for self-sustaining, walkable communities all around Malaysia.

ParkCity Group placed family, neighbourhood and community amongst our top five priorities in our brand values followed by connectivity and convenience. This unique ParkCity DNA is what makes its Desa ParkCity township in Kuala Lumpur so successful. The same DNA has also been injected into its 190-acre master-planned ParkCity Hanoi in Vietnam and the 551-acre Marina ParkCity in Miri, Sarawak.
